His Sciatica Came Back After Two Pain-Free Years. So Did He.

A gentleman in his early 60s recently returned to The Miracle of Massage with his wife.

But he wasn't a new client.

I had treated him approximately two years earlier when he was suffering from acute sciatica.

And when I say he was suffering, I mean suffering.

He still talks about that first experience. At the time, the pain was so severe that he told me he felt like he was dying. He knew one thing for certain:

He was not willing to live with that level of pain.

We worked together, he responded very well to treatment, and eventually the pain was gone.

For more than two years, he remained pain-free.

Then the sciatica came back.

“I Knew Exactly Where to Come.”

When he realized what was happening, he called me.

There wasn't much debate about where he wanted to go. He remembered what we had accomplished together the first time.

But something was different this time.

The way we work at The Miracle of Massage has changed.

I didn't simply put him on the table because he said, “My sciatica is back.”

And I didn't sell him an hour of massage.

We started with an assessment.

Why?

Because having sciatica two years ago doesn't automatically mean that today's pain has the same cause.

Symptoms can change. Bodies change. Circumstances change.

So rather than assume, we assess.

First We Assess. Then We Treat.

His assessment indicated that his current symptoms were again consistent with sciatica and that he was an appropriate candidate for the work I provide.

Only then did we move forward with a hands-on treatment plan.

He completed that treatment plan successfully.

And today?

He's pain-free again.

I am tremendously grateful for that outcome.

But there's something important I want anyone reading this to understand.

Can I Guarantee That I Can Fix Your Sciatica?

No.

And I don't believe anyone should make that promise.

Every person is different. Every body is different. There are different causes and contributing factors behind pain, and no responsible practitioner can guarantee a particular outcome before evaluating the individual.

What I can tell you is that we've had a strong track record working with people suffering from sciatica and similar pain problems.

And that's exactly why we assess first.

The assessment isn't a formality. It's part of the treatment process.

We're trying to determine:

What appears to be causing your symptoms?

Are your symptoms consistent with something I work with?

Are you an appropriate candidate for treatment?

And if you qualify, what treatment plan makes sense for you?

That is very different from simply purchasing 60 or 90 minutes of massage.

We're No Longer Selling You an Hour.

This is one of the biggest changes at The Miracle of Massage.

For years, massage therapy has trained all of us—including me—to think in terms of time:

“How much is an hour?”

But if you're dealing with serious pain, that's not really the question you need answered.

The better question is:

“Can you figure out what's causing this and determine whether you can help me?”

That's why sciatica care at The Miracle of Massage now begins with the Sciatica Pain Mechanic Assessment.

If the assessment indicates that you're an appropriate candidate for treatment, we'll explain what we found and discuss a treatment plan.

If you're not, we're not going to sell you a treatment plan simply because you walked through the door.

Pain-Free for Two Years.

Then It Returned.

Could this gentleman's sciatica return again someday?

Yes.

Bodies aren't automobiles where we replace a broken component and guarantee it for life. Activities, injuries, aging, health changes and many other factors can affect what happens years down the road.

But here's what I love about his story:

The first time, he came to us frightened and desperate for an answer.

The second time, he already knew where to come.

We assessed him.

He qualified for treatment.

We developed his treatment plan.

He completed it.

And we're grateful to say that today, he's pain-free again.

Your pain has a cause.

Let's find it together.
